The introduction of the UK Charge Point Regulations in November 2023 marked an important step forward for public EV charging in the UK. With the Department for Transport’s (DfT’s) roll-out of the ‘Pricing Metric’, drivers have greater clarity, consistency and confidence when using public charge points.
These requirements apply to all public chargers rated at 8kW and above, setting a baseline for how charging networks should perform and communicate with drivers. At Zapgo, these principles are already embedded in how our network is designed, operated and scaled.
Rather than treating regulation as a compliance exercise, Zapgo views it as an opportunity to raise standards across the charging experience.
Public charging only works if drivers can depend on it. Zapgo’s network performance in 2025 consistently exceeded 99% availability, reflecting our focus on proactive monitoring, maintenance, and operational resilience.
Charging should be straightforward. Zapgo supports contactless card payments as standard, ensuring drivers can charge easily without subscriptions, accounts, or unnecessary barriers.
Zapgo provides access to a 24/7 customer support helpline, with clear on-site information so help is always available when drivers need it.
Accurate, accessible data plays a vital role in a modern charging ecosystem. Zapgo operates using open-data standards, supporting collaboration with public bodies, network operators, and energy system partners.
Under the Pricing Metric regulation, pricing transparency is no longer optional. Zapgo displays charging costs clearly in pence per kilowatt-hour (kWh) across charger screens and in our App, enabling drivers to make informed decisions before charging.
As regulation evolves, Zapgo remains focused on delivering infrastructure that is dependable, transparent, and ready for growth. Our alignment with the UK Charge Point Regulations reflects a wider commitment to building trust, improving accessibility and supporting the continued expansion of electric vehicle adoption across the UK.
