Zapgo joins EVUK Westminster Ride Along

We were delighted to join Electric Vehicles UK’s Westminster Ride Along event, which brought together MPs, EV experts, vehicle manufacturers, charge point operators and industry partners for a practical discussion about the future of electric transport.
Held on Tuesday 30 June, MPs had the opportunity to experience EVs first hand, discuss the practical realities of owning, driving and charging an EV and see how the sector is evolving in real time across the UK.
Zapgo is a Super Partner of EVUK and is the only charge point operator at that highest level.
Bringing the EV conversation to Westminster
For the second year running, EVUK’s Westminster Ride Along brought together new and used electric vehicles and charging technology in the heart of Westminster. Rather than holding a conventional roundtable or panel session, the many MPs who joined the event were able to enjoy ride-alongs in EVs, see charging technology up close and speak directly to those of us delivering EV infrastructure across the UK.
The event brought together EVUK members including Zapgo, Ingeteam, Lex Autolease, Believ, Farizon Auto UK, BYD, JAECOO UK, OVO, Tesla and Polestar, creating a genuine cross-section of the EV market.
At the event, our team updated MPs on Zapgo’s story and showed them our growing network of chargers across the UK, highlighting the role reliable charging infrastructure in the right locations is playing in encouraging families and businesses to make the switch to an EV.
It was also a valuable opportunity to meet with our fellow EVUK partners, including Polestar, and discuss how the sector can work together to improve driver confidence and support practical EV adoption.
For us, the day was a valuable opportunity to share our practical charge point operator perspective and shape the conversation around EV infrastructure delivery. Reliable public charging infrastructure is essential to the EV transition and policy discussions always need to be grounded in the realities of delivering charging infrastructure on the ground.
Observations from the day
It was clear to us that EV adoption is now a practical conversation. Gone are the days of theorising about the sector now there is a proven track record of infrastructure delivery and consumer adoption across the country.
Instead of abstract conversations with MPs, those parliamentarians present asked us questions focused on cost, convenience, range, charging reliability, and how to ensure their constituents can feel confident in making the switch to an EV.
Our conversations with the likes of Scott Arthur MP, Katrina Murray MP, Caroline Noakes MP and Dawn Butler MP reflected that practical focus with charging access, charger reliability, and the everyday charging experience central to the discussion.
MPs were also eager to hear about the importance of building chargers in the right places. As more drivers make the switch, the UK needs charging infrastructure that fits seamlessly around people’s lives and into the places they visit. That means rapid and reliable charging at destinations, in local communities, and in all parts of the country – not just on major transport corridors.
Zapgo bringing the CPO voice
Zapgo’s partnership with EVUK is about ensuring the perspective of those delivering charging infrastructure is properly represented in national conversations about EV adoption.
As the only CPO at EVUK’s Super Partner tier, we contribute real-world experience from delivering rapid and ultra-rapid charging infrastructure across the UK, including in communities that have historically been underserved by public charging provision.
That practical experience we bring matters. Building a reliable charging network is not only about increasing the number of chargers. It is about where they are built, how easy they are to use, how reliable they are, and whether they support the places where people already live, work, shop and spend time.
Zapgo will continue working with EVUK and industry partners to support informed policy discussions, improve access to trusted EV information and help ensure the UK’s charging rollout works for drivers, businesses and communities alike.
