About the site
The site features a 200kWh ultra-rapid charger serving two parking bays, allowing EV drivers to add significant range in as little at 20 minutes while visiting the retail park, home to the recently opened Co-op supermarket, Greggs bakery and Harrison Family Vets.
The charging site provides valuable support to the increasing number of electric vehicle owners across the North East and provides convenient charging for shoppers, local residents and motorists travelling through the area.
Growing demand for local charging
Located only 8 minutes from Newcastle Airport, near the A1 and within a fast-growing residential area, the site also serves residents from the 1,500+ new build homes which already built and occupied nearby, and the further 2,000+ homes planned as part of the ongoing development around Callerton Rise.
The Hexham constituency, in which the retail park sits, has the third highest level of EV adoption in the North East, with over 2,300 registered electric vehicles at the date of the site opening, meaning that demand for convenient public charging infrastructure is more important than ever and is continuing to rise.
