The Zapgo app – putting the charging network in your hands

August 7, 2026

Finding a public EV charger should not feel like a difficult part of any journey. Drivers deserve to be able to know where they can charge, whether a charger is available, and how much it’ll cost all before they pull into the charging bay.

In this insights post, we look at how the Zapgo app makes our growing network easier to navigate, while also giving drivers the freedom to access our chargers in whichever way works best for them.

A good charging app shows you pins on a map. A great charging app, however, gives drivers much more useful information than just that before they even set off.

When we built the Zapgo app, which launched last year, we had this enhanced customer experience at the front of our minds. This is why we’ve ensured that the Zapgo app not only allows you to find nearby charging stations but it also enables you to view real-time information on the charger availability and accessibility, get precise directions to your chosen charger through what3words entries, and filter locations by connector type, charging speed and other preferences.

These may seem like simple common-sense features for an EV charging app but, in fact, they address many of the most common frustrations associated with public charging. By giving drivers information about what’s happening at the charging site long before they even get there, the Zapgo app helps drivers avoid unnecessary diversions and delays and enables them to plan longer journeys with confidence.

Flexible around your preferences

We understand. Individual charging apps aren’t for everyone. That’s why, as well as the Zapgo app, all our chargers are also available through established aggregator platforms including Octopus Electroverse, Paua, and Allstar.  These aggregators bring chargers from multiple operators together in one place, making it easier for drivers to find, access and pay for charging through platforms they already use.

Drivers can also start a session directly at a Zapgo charger using contactless debit or credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay or an RFID card. The principle is straightforward: the driver should be able to choose the method that suits them, rather than being forced down a single route.

Exploring our growing network

For those following our exciting growth story. The app also acts as a window into Zapgo’s growing physical network. Our sites range from a convenience store in Scotland to a retail park near Newcastle and a farm shop in Somerset and many more. Next time you’re looking for a charger on the Zapgo app, take a look and see where our other chargers are as well.

Backed by physical reliability

No app can compensate for an unreliable or poorly located charger. Digital convenience only works when it is supported by dependable equipment, suitable destinations and responsive customer support.

The Zapgo app is therefore one of several ways to enjoy an excellent charging experience. Whether someone uses our dedicated app, an aggregator platform or simply taps a credit card at the charger, our objective remains the same: make driving an EV easier for everyone by placing rapid and reliable charging infrastructure in the places it’s needed most.
